Art Exhibition In Full Bloom: Floral Still Life & Garden Paintings from the 19th c to Present On view March 24 — August 31, 2023
New Hampshire Antique Co-op proudly presents its new upcoming art show, In Full Bloom: Floral Still Life & Garden Paintings from the 19th Century to Present, featuring works from renowned artists of the late 1800s to the present. As New England eagerly anticipates spring and summer, In Full Bloom captures these seasons through bright, airy paintings of flourishing flowers, great gardens and lush landscapes.
Floral still life paintings have a rich history dating back to ancient times when they were used in religious rituals and as symbols of wealth and prosperity. The popularity of floral still life paintings reached its peak during the Dutch Golden Age of the 17th century, where it became a genre of its own. The exhibit showcases a collection of floral and garden paintings from artists including Emil Carlsen, Dines Carlsen, Benjamin Champney, Adelheid Dietrich, William de Leftwich Dodge, Andre Gisson, Francis Coates Jones, Hayley Lever, Hermann Dudley Murphy, Laura Van Pappelendam, Max Weyl, and more. Also included are works by contemporary New England artists Stephen Motyka and Carol Robey. Each artist's unique style and technique are highlighted in the pieces, which vary in size and medium.
